To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'System' = '<SYSTEM32>\Setup.exe'
Infects the following executable system files:
- <SYSTEM32>\taskmgr.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\setup.exe
Substitutes the following executable system files:
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup.exe with <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\taskmgr.exe with <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\taskmgr.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\setup.exe with <SYSTEM32>\setup.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\taskmgr.exe with <SYSTEM32>\taskmgr.exe.new
Malicious functions:
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\logonui.exe /status /shutdown
Attempts to shut down the Windows operating system.
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- <SYSTEM32>\taskmgr.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\taskmgr.exe.new
- %TEMP%\aut1.tmp
- %TEMP%\aut2.tmp
- <SYSTEM32>\setup.exe.new
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\aut2.tmp
- %TEMP%\aut1.tmp
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: 'StatusWindowClass' WindowName: ''
- ClassName: 'BUTTON' WindowName: ''
- ClassName: 'Shell_TrayWnd' WindowName: ''
